Electronic Cash Register (ECR) Structure

The structure of electronic cash register (ECR) is mainly composed of the electronic units and the mechanical components. It has some seven constituents:

Motherboard --- central data processing unit

Memory --- store information, data and programme

Keyboard --- use it to input sales data

Printer --- uses it to print sales receipt and manage journal

Display --- display transaction information and convenient for cashiers and customers to communicate

Cash drawer --- use to deposit cash and other voucher

Interfaces for peripheries --- use to connect various peripheries
